Where the reports come from and how to read them.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is the independent U.S. federal agency that investigates every civil aviation accident in the United States. Its findings are published in the public NTSB aviation accident database (CAROL).
NTSB Alerts presents those reports as a clean, followable feed: each report is tagged by tail number, airport, aircraft type, phase of flight, and more, so you can follow exactly what matters to you and get an email when a matching report publishes.
Current status: this site is a prototype running on representative sample data. Live ingestion from the NTSB database is in development — follows and alerts you set up now will carry over.
Most accidents follow patterns that have happened before — fuel exhaustion, continued VFR into IMC, stall/spin in the pattern. Reading reports for the aircraft you fly and the airports you use is one of the most effective ways to learn from others' mistakes instead of repeating them.
